Oxfordshire County & Thame Show
We are taking our Totally Foodie catering wagon to the Oxfordshire County & Thame Show this Saturday 13th July. We will be selling our delicious Gloucestershire Old Spot sausages and bacon as per usual along with a selection of our refreshing drinks and Chilly Billy iced lollies. Also on offer will be the opportunity to taste the fabulous relish from local producers Relish the Taste.
Relish the Taste is a relatively new business set up in 2011 by mother-of-four Rachel Browne. The company specializes in the production of handmade chutneys, relishes and pickles using traditional methods of preserving and recipes that are free from artificial flavourings, colours and preservatives. Seasonal fruit and vegetables are homegrown or locally sourced wherever possible. They already have a number of stockists in Cheltenham including the new Whole Foods Market as well as independent retailers The Cheeseworks and Farmhouse Deli.
The show itself has so much on offer for the whole family to see and experience. In the Countryside Arena there will be demonstrations and displays throughout the day from the new Pig Agility and Horse Whisperer to Falconry, Sheepdogs with Ducks, Terrier Racing and Gundogs.
The arena itself will be surrounded by a superb selection of countrymen demonstrating their skills such as hedge laying, stone walling, broom making, a blacksmith and more. The Main Ring will host two top class show jumping competitions including the Oxfordshire Area Trial. There will be the galloping ponies of the Scurry Driving along with the Lamb National sheep race. There will also be the regular cattle parade along with classic cars, agricultural display and parade of hounds. The Band this year is the 1066 Pipes and Drums (Hastings) who will be performing twice.
Around the showground there will be the usual competitions for cattle, sheep, horses and donkeys along with displays of rabbits, birds, and alpaca’s. For dog lovers there will be a fun dog show where you can bring your dogs along and enter on the day!
Included as a brand new feature this year is the Food and Drink Village where food retailers and local producers will be selling a wide range of food and local breweries will be selling their beer. The Food Hall will again be full of its usual delights and the Home and Garden marquee will have a number of new classes to suit everyone.
And to top it all off the weather is set to be a scorcher so good job we will have plenty of Chilly Billy iced lollies available! Don’t’ forget if you are coming to the show to make sure you where sunscreen and sunhats and most importantly you pop along and say hi to the team.
